Two things matter more than anything else on this page, so they go first. The files you open with the tools on this site, PDFs and photographs alike, are processed entirely inside your browser and are never uploaded to any server. And this site is meant to be paid for by advertising served by Google, which sets cookies in your browser. Advertising is not running yet; when it starts, this policy already describes it.
Both are true at the same time. A site can leave your documents alone and still be an ordinary ad-supported web page, and pretending otherwise in either direction would be the dishonest version of this document.
Who runs this site
redactpdffree.com and the Zero-Trust PDF Studio tools on it are operated by Kordal Systems, based in Kolkata, India. Questions about this policy go to hello@redactpdffree.com.
Your documents
When you add a PDF or a photograph to a tool here, the file is read into your browser's memory and worked on there: rendered, searched, marked, rebuilt and checked. A photograph is turned into a one-page PDF on your device before anything else happens to it, and that conversion is also what removes the EXIF block the camera wrote, including the GPS coordinates, the device model and the timestamp. The document is not transmitted anywhere. There is no upload endpoint, no storage bucket, and nothing on a server that touches your file, because the site is a set of static files with no application behind it.
The same goes for everything you type into the tools, including search terms in find-and-redact and in the verification report. They are used in the page and not sent or recorded.
You can confirm this rather than take our word for it, and the instructions are on check these claims. The short version: let the page finish loading, switch off your network, and the tool keeps working, because nothing about your file needs a server.
The exported file is generated in the page and handed to your browser as a download. We never see it, never receive a copy, and could not produce one if asked. When you close the tab, the document and everything derived from it are gone from memory.
What is stored on your device
This site sets no cookies of its own. It does keep two things in your browser, and neither contains any part of a document:
- The site's own files, in a cache managed by a service worker, so the tools open and work without a connection on later visits. That cache holds the site's pages, code, fonts and sample documents, all public files anyone can download. Your documents are never put in it. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes it.
- One preference in session storage: whether a one-finger drag on a touch screen draws a bar or scrolls the page. It is forgotten when you close the tab.
Hosting and server logs
Delivering a web page still requires a server to answer a request, and that request carries information whether anyone wants it to or not: your IP address, the address of the page you asked for, your browser's user-agent string, and the time. This site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes and logs that request data in the ordinary course of serving traffic, as every web host does. Cloudflare also asks browsers to report failed connections to it, a standard called Network Error Logging; those reports describe the connection, not what you were doing on the page.
That is a fact about how the web works rather than a feature of this site, and it applies to the page you are reading now. It does not apply to your documents, which are never part of a request.
Analytics
This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. It was chosen for what it does not do: it sets no cookies, it does not build a profile of you, and it does not follow you to other sites. What it reports is aggregate: page views, referring sites, countries, broad device categories and page-load timing.
Google Analytics is deliberately not used here. It would contradict the rest of this page and create a consent problem that Cloudflare's version does not.
Advertising
The site is free, and the plan is to pay for it with advertising served through Google AdSense. Advertising is not running yet. When it is, Google and its partners will use cookies to serve ads, and depending on your settings those cookies may be used to personalize what you see based on your previous visits to this and other sites. Google may also use a cookie to limit how often you see an ad and to measure whether it worked.
You have direct control over that, and it does not run through us. My Ad Center lets you turn personalized advertising off or adjust what it uses, and your browser's cookie settings can block or clear these cookies as well. Turning personalization off does not remove ads; it makes them less targeted.
Ad code runs on the page it is placed on, like any web page's ads. Neither it nor this site's own code sends your document anywhere, and the network check on check these claims is how to confirm that for yourself. Ads will not be placed inside the tools, and nothing about a file you open is shared with advertisers.
What this site does not do
There are no user accounts, so there is nothing to sign up for and no credentials to lose. There is no mailing list. No data is sold. The only things collected are the aggregate page-view data and the hosting logs described above.
Note the shape of that claim. It is not that this site is free of tracking of any kind: once ads run, they set cookies, and that is tracking by any reasonable definition. The claim is narrower, and it is the one that matters when you are holding a sensitive document: your file is not part of it.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13. Beyond the hosting logs and page-view counts described above, which work the same for every visitor, it has no form, account or upload through which anyone of any age could give it personal information.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes, such as advertising starting, will be described here rather than quietly folded in.
